The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve re-accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling (585) 753-4872 on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 between 2 pm and 4 pm. Comments will be taken by the CALEA Assessment Team.
Employees and community members may also offer comments to the CALEA Assessment Team at a public hearing which will be at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office 6th Floor Auditorium, located at 130 Plymouth Avenue South, on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 6 p.m.
Telephone and Public Hearing comments are limited to ten (10) minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Staff Services Section, 130 Plymouth Avenue South, Rochester, New York, 14614. Local contact is the Accreditation Coordinator who can be reached at (585) 753-4741.
