Financial Disclosure Statements
NY State Election Law requires candidates and their political committees to file Financial Disclosure Statements.
The New York State Board of Elections receives all filings of state parties and all political committees supporting candidates for offices. In addition, all State Senate and Assembly candidates are required to file their disclosure with the State Board as are city, town and county legislature candidates who raise or spend at least $1,000. The state requires these filings in an electronic format created by software available on their website. Any candidates for offices contained wholly within Monroe County or parts thereof: county wide, city, towns, and county legislature, who raise and spend less than $1,000 file with the Monroe County Board of Elections. Forms can be mailed or delivered in person. Additional information on how to set up those campaign committees can be obtained by calling 585 753-1550, sending us an e-mail or visiting us at 39 W. Main St. in Rochester, N.Y. 14614. Those filings are open to public inspection Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Board of Elections located at 39 W. Main St.
Each candidate or political committee is required to file at least two times a year. In a year in which the candidate is running at least three additional filings are required and if the candidate is in a primary three more filings are required.
