COVID-19 testing is now available for anyone symptomatic. If you are a member of the public with symptoms and would like a test, you are encouraged to make an appointment as soon as possible. If you are an essential employee, you don't need to have symptoms, you may still access testing. This is not an antibody test - it is to detect the COVID-19 virus.

COVID-19 Resources

With COVID-19 cases confirmed and growing here in Monroe County, we all need to take measures to help prevent infection and spreading the disease to others.

First, it is important to stay informed on a regular basis. Information and guidance related to COVID-19 changes daily. We are continually updating the resources below to provide easy access to accurate, timely information.

COVID-19 is impacting our entire community. We’re in this together, and we’ll get through it together. At this stage in the spread of the virus, social distancing is a critically important action we can all take in order to flatten the curve. Flatten the curve means slowing the spread of an epidemic so that the capacity of the healthcare system doesn’t become overwhelmed. The curve represents the number of cases over time, and flattening that curve means preventing a huge surge of new cases in a very short period of time—which is extremely challenging for health officials to handle. By flattening the curve, we can collectively lessen the impact on our healthcare providers and ensure they have the capacity to deal with those individuals most in need of care.

So if you’re wondering how you can help, this is the most significant impact that you can have! Even if you are not experiencing symptoms, behave as if you have been exposed. There is a good chance that you have been exposed, and you could be spreading the virus to vulnerable people without knowing it. Social distancing and staying home are the most important things that all Americans and residents of Monroe County can do right now, to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

If you are experiencing fever, cough or shortness of breath, call your healthcare provider. Do not visit your doctor’s office or an emergency room without calling first so staff members can take appropriate precautions. If you do not have a health care provider, contact the Monroe County Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 hotline or email:

PHONE: (585) 753-5555
EMAIL: COVID19@monroecounty.gov

Again, it’s important to emphasize: please do your part to avoid contracting or spreading illness. Some of the most effective ways to prevent infection are on the chart below. In addition, please practice social distancing at work and wherever you go.

This is a new experience for our community. We must be patient and work together to help keep our families and our community safe and healthy. Let’s practice good habits and get through this together.

If you do not find the information you are seeking below, please don’t hesitate to call the New York State COVID-19 Hotline at (888) 364-3065.
